The TRUTH about renting a camper van on Maui

We truly believe camping on Maui is the best way to integrate yourself into the true Aloha of the island! With its diverse landscapes – from lush rainforests to sprawling beaches and towering volcano – Maui offers a camping experience unlike any other. And a camper van is the most comfortable way to do it!

We're going to tell you the truth about this unique experience so you can decide if exploring Maui in a camper van is right for you!

  1. Campsites can be hard to book. It's true - staying overnight within a designated campground is a requirement when camping on Maui and one we strongly enforce. But not to fear, your camping concierge is here (that's us)! We share with you all the best spots to stay and can even pass on sample itineraries so you can enjoy a fantastic Maui experience!

  2. You'll be living in a small space. But don't be fooled by this – all you need to do is open your door and you (quite literally) have the entire island at your fingertips! There is still plenty of room to change your clothes, brush teeth or do dishes using the sink inside the van, as well as sleep on a nice, comfortable queen-size bed.

  3. There might not be available cell service. That's right – you may be forced to disconnect for a bit! You'll finally have the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and really unplug from technology and reconnect with nature like you've been craving.

  4. You'll be exhausted at the end of the day. Maui's climate is pretty close to perfect, which makes for ideal camping. It also means you'll have endless outdoor activities to enjoy, like hiking, swimming, and snorkeling, even during the winter months. You'll probably sleep pretty darn well at night from all the adventures you'll be enjoying during the day!

  5. All your friends may be jealous of you. Living your best life often comes with envy from others! But not to worry - they'll get over it as soon as you tell your friends and family all the ways they too can enjoy #vanlife on Maui! They'll be happy you had such an incredible experience in the end.

  6. There may be too much to fit into your itinerary. Perhaps the most special aspect of camping on Maui is the opportunity to witness some of the island's most breathtaking natural wonders from the front seat. From the sunrise atop Haleakala, to the majestic waterfalls of Hana, to the serene beauty of the Nakalele Blowhole, camping on Maui offers a front-row seat to some of the most awe-inspiring sights in the world. You'll have to decide how full you want your travel itinerary to be!

  7. You might never want to leave. Overall, camping on Maui is a one-of-a-kind experience that offers adventure, relaxation, and an unparalleled connection with nature. There really is nothing like it and you may be tempted to skip your flight and stay here forever!

Staying overnight in a camper van is truly the most special way to explore our beautiful Valley Isle! Whether you're a seasoned camper or a first-timer looking for an adventure of a lifetime, Maui is sure to leave a lasting impression on your heart and soul.
